Nintendo Wii 2 wifi streaming secret weapon?
The new Nintendo Wii 2 just might stream over wifi to serve content to your controller. This would allow your base Wii to serve multiple games, movies, music, and more. Some people are likening it to the Apple TV/Ipad setup we’re growing to love.
With hardware costs as they are it is hard to imagine the new controller having it’s own hardcore CPU/GPU. What better way to have a screen on a controller than to just make it accept a streaming wifi signal?
According to Kotaku and a few other sources some of the specs of the new Nintendo Wii 2 might lead us to believe this might be true. They are calling the Nintendo Wii version two “Project Cafe” as far as I know. And in this new project we’re seeing some neat stuff.
- GPUs that are said to be similar to AMD R700s
- A custom designed CPU
- 1080p and stereoscopic 3d (unconfirmed)
- But perhaps the most interesting find is the controller. ING has an image of the prototype up here.
The prototype looks similar to a typical Playstation or XBOX controller but it has a fairly large screen on it which means you’ll be able to play games with just the controller? Will the hard drive contain and stream your games directly to your controller? We shall see!
UDK now supports iOS. A new game engine for iPhone! Sweet!

Kinect – Damaged, scratched.. DVDs and CDs?
I got a Kinect and a new XBox 360 recently and one of the guy’s from the WildPipe crew turned me onto this article.

Turns out that you might want to put some shock absorbers on your XBox if you’re playing Kinect if you don’t want to damage your discs. I guess the drive is pretty weak and so the jumping around you do while playing games involving the Kinect can cause the disc to wiggle and bounce and get scratched. So if you have scratched disks in your Xbox after playing some Kinect game you might want to put something soft under your XBox. And MS… you might want to think about installing better drives in these things!
