Unigine supports Linux game development with engine license giveaway
Tomsk, Russia – November 25, 2010 – Unigine Corp. announced a competition to support Linux game development. It will give a free license for its top-notch Unigine engine to an experienced team willing to work on a Linux native game.
Competition Rules
A team is welcomed to participate in the competition if it meets the following criteria:
- It has released a 3D game or has one in development
- Team members are experienced in Linux software development
- It is ready to develop a native Linux 3D game
Submissions (with links to released games, team background info and contacts) are to be sent to licensing@unigine.com. The competition comes to a close on December, 10.
The winner team will get a free binary license on Unigine engine for a single project on PC platform (Windows / Linux) with full access to technical support and updates.
The teams that will take the 2nd and the 3rd place are granted huge discounts on licensing Unigine.

The ever popular InstantAction (AKA GarageGame – Maker of Torque Game Engine) has been closed down.

While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. Emergent Technologies Assets, Including Gamebryo Engine, Up For Sale
An asset liquidation group revealed today that the component parts of middleware maker Emergent Technologies are up for sale to the highest bidder, just days after a deal between the company and struggling Krome Studios fell through.
Emergent Technologies assets, including Gamebryo, are up for sale. According to source Gamasutra: “After securing over $40 million in equity financing from various venture capital firms, the document shows that Emergent has shown operating losses of over $30 million from its founding in 2005 through 2009, though the company was apparently showing a small profit so far this year.”
