Vietnam to restrict online gaming

Online gaming rumored to be shut down in Vietnam after 9 or 10pm. From what I understand the Vietnamese government is planning on having any ISPs who do not follow the shut down order busted for it. The rationale for this is that the online gaming is creating crime in Vietnam.

While I’d really like to see some study that links this I’d have to say that it’s most likely a mistake no matter how you cut it. Even if gaming could be linked to crime in Vietnam there could be tough consequences for Vietnam. Just take a look at what happened when they shut the internet off in Egypt!

[EDIT] After reading a bit more about this I can’t determine if this is a rule for internet cafes or for ISPs. If it is strictly for internet cafes then it’s not really that much different than curfew rules in the United States. If they ban these cafes for adults then it seems a little odd. If they turn your gaming off country wide at 10pm then that truly sucks. I hope someone can give me a little more information. sumo911@hotmail.com if you have any info about this subject that is newsworthy.
